"Propagation of Monk Wonhyo's Weonyung Hoitong and Real-life Pure Land Philosophy Based on the Buddha's Gyeong"
 <Geumganggyeong Lamp-lighting> Currently Recruiting ? 4,958 Participants

Chief Monk Beopryeon at Cheongdam-dong So Rim Jeong Sa

Located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, So Rim Jeong Sa (Chief Monk Beopryeon) has garnered widespread attention and a growing reputation for Gapidoryang, which achieves all wishes and desires, including the eradication of diseases, through the practice of the Namu Amita-bul Yeombul Gongdeok. In particular, So Rim Jeong Sa, situated in the heart of the city as a missionary temple, has established itself as a real-life pure land Doryang which transforms the living world into a paradise through practice and prayer. Chief Monk Beopryeon is planning to translate six research papers on the real-life pure land of Wonhyo into six languages, attracting attention not only from Buddhists but also from the general public. These papers have already gained recognition in the Buddhist community for their significant achievement in following the accomplishments and traces of Wonhyo from approximately 1,700 years ago, using Hwaeom philosophy as the theoretical foundation. The reason for this recognition is that they provide a path for the entire Republic of Korea to reach a paradise through the practice of Namu Amita-bul. In the October issue of <Monthly Korean>, Chief Monk Beopryeon shares his dedication to awakening the mind and body through Yeombul practice and spreading compassion, wisdom, and happiness across the land. The interview delves into various aspects, including the temple's history, his religious philosophy, and his vision for collective enlightenment.

Ilcheusimjo(ìéï·êæãýðã), everything is created by the mind alone, and everything depends on the mind.

Chief Monk Beopryeon, who has turned Wonhyo's Hwaeom philosophy into a thesis based on the teachings of the "Gyeong" (Sutras), stated with a smile that he will continue to expand the activities of So Rim Jeong Sa in the future. He said, "So Rim Jeong Sa is at the center of prayer and wish fulfillment, where dreams come true. Every Saturday, we have a three-year-long ancestral memorial service, and we consistently hold pilgrimages to sacred places such as Boriam in Namhae, Hyangilham in Yeosu, Bulaksan in Jirisan, and Choe Champan's House in Gurye."  Notably, the monk has plans to establish a center in New York, underscoring his dedication to global outreach, beyond Korea, and maintaining the true essence of a practice center that engages with the world.

The monk, who emphasized the phrase "Ilcheusimjo (ìéï·êæãýðã)" to the public, explained that happiness in human life is not something created artificially but simply depends on and follows the mind. He said, "I hope our readers don't forcibly seek answers to all aspects of life and instead entrust themselves to the natural order of Namu Amita-bul Yeombul and reflect on themselves while controlling their minds. By doing so, they may naturally see their own desires and hopes being fulfilled, leading to positive outcomes. Emphasizing action over words, asserting that without action, society would become chaotic. He further explained that there must be a fundamental foundation for society, the nation, and the world to be maintained in peace.

Promoting 6 projects, including So Rim Jeong Sa , So Rim Seonwon, and Buddhist Academy.
Meanwhile, the monk introduced So Rim Seonwon, a space within So Rim Jeong Sa where practitioners engage in meditation. This place, where Buddhists practice and cultivate their minds on a regular basis, serves as a sturdy pillar in maintaining the temple's functions. The monk also mentioned that they are currently recruiting participants for the Geumganggyeong (Diamond Sutra) Lamp-lighting. "The Geumganggyeong consists of 4,958 characters. We have planned this  Geumganggyeong Lamp-lightening event by recruiting one participant per character, with the aim of gradually lighting all the lamps. We hope that more people will join us in the lamp-lighting event."  The monk said emphatically that “Those who participate in the Geumganggyeong Lamp-lighting will gain merits that include family harmony, prosperity in their endeavors, the true value of practice, and empowerment towards the ultimate enlightenment."

Additionally, Chief Monk Beopryeon explained that So Rim Jeong Sa is currently recruiting students for the Global Buddhist Academy that offers a variety of valuable courses, both online and offline, including lectures on the Lotus Sutra, understanding and practice of Buddhism, introduction to Tibetan Buddhism, tea and meditation, and Seonbang for the general public. In addition, So Rim Jeong Sa is currently engaged in 6 significant projects, including "So Rim's Food Truck" provideing assistance to Sri Lanka, So Rim Scholarship Society supporting underprivileged youth and children's education expenses, and the "Waggle Waggle Marketplace," a platform for communication and exchange. Through these six substantial initiatives, So Rim Jeong Sa is actively working and expressing their hope to continue these efforts energetically to achieve their mission of Chongnim. As a temple blooming like a grand lotus flower in the heart of the city, So Rim Jeong Sa is dedicated to promoting Buddhism in urban areas. Visiting this place brings peace to the mind and spreads laughter and smiles.

In particular, the tea meditation with Chief Monk Beopryeon helps to clear the cluttered mind, brings clarity, and allows one to find inner peace on the path to happiness. "Our So Rim Jeong Sa can be summed up in one word: Doryang (Bodhi-mandala) of Utmost Bliss. Our temple's goal and vision are to transform the world into a Pure Land of Utmost Bliss. This is closely connected to the philosophy of Weonyung Hoitong (xomplete accommodation and unification). We are firmly established as a temple that guides people on the path of happiness and ultimate liberation, following the principles of the Buddha's teachings," he emphasized.

<Interview with Chief Monk Beopryeon at Cheongdam-dong So Rim Jeong Sa>
Q1."Could you please share what you consider the most important aspect of Buddhist teachings in your perspective?
A1 I am making efforts to convey the teachings of Buddha to practitioners based on the Buddha's sutras, both fully and easily. Especially, by diligently practicing Yeombul, the path to the Pure Land will open up. It is important to always listen to the Buddha's words attentively and follow the path of real-life paradise and real-life pure land.

Q2. The publication of the research paper has become a significant issue. Could you please share your thoughts on this?
A2. The process of exploring the achievements of Wonhyo from over 1,700 years ago was also a personal struggle. However, by studying and researching the monk's accomplishments through the sutras, I came to realize that ultimately, through Namu Amita-bul, the entire world can reach the Pure Land. It gave me the confidence to pursue my practice with determination.

Q3. Finally, is there anything you would like to say?
A3. I believe that my role is to help purify the minds of those who truly aspire to accomplish great things and to pave the way for their progress. In the future, while faithfully fulfilling my role, I will continue to exert more effort in various activities such as prayer, practice, education, sutra studies, domestic and international pilgrimages, tea and meditation practices, as well as cognitive science and character education for the Bulsa leading the 21st century¡£
